Department Policy on Acceptable Materials for Literature
Study
Episcopal High School
The Episcopal English Department does not condone student
use of outside print and electronic sources to aid interpretation
of literature studied in class. Such sources include Sparknotes,
Cliffs Notes, and essays, notes or study guides published
or purchased through print or electronic media. Written work
and ideas involving the literature in class discussion should
come from students’ minds at work with materials and information
presented by the teacher. In the event that a tutor is involved,
the student is expected to understand and uphold this policy
in keeping with the Honor Code.
