Algebra I: This full year course lays the
foundation for all future work in mathematics, science and
real world
problem solving. The major emphasis is on developing a
true understanding of the concepts and processes in algebra
through the proficient use of number sense, problem solving,
and the graphing calculator. It is strongly recommended
that any student not earning a grade of C- or higher repeat
this course.
Algebra
II: These courses extend the concepts and
applications introduced in Algebra I in preparation for
advanced study in mathematics and science. Major emphasis
is given to formulating and using algebraic equations,
functions, graphs, data and critical thinking in a broad
range of situations. Placement in honors course is done
by the department.
Pre-Calculus: This
year long course is designed to present the theory and applications
of trigonometry and elementary functions to
students. Particular emphasis will be given to the use of mathematics for modeling
realworld problems.
