Episcopal provides extended care for
students in grades pre-K – 8 who stay on campus after
school and who are not involved in supervised athletic activities.
During the extended care hours, students will have the opportunity
to enjoy after-school snacks, to engage in social/play time
with their peers, and to complete homework assignments.
Extended Care for lower school students is based in the
Greer Center; care for middle school students is based in
the Aldrich Library. All students are required to check
in at Extended Care each day they are enrolled.
Extended Care is considered to be an extension
of the school day. All students who enroll in Extended Care
will be expected to conduct themselves in the same manner
they would at any time during the school day and afford
the faculty/staff in charge of Extended Care services the
same respect as they would their classroom teachers. Behavior
that does not reflect these standards and/or violates Episcopal’s
Honor Code will not be accepted at any time and will be
handled accordingly.
Extended Care will be offered for the 2008-2009
academic year. Parents who are interested in having their
children participate in the Extended Care program must complete
an enrollment form and a hold harmless statement. This is
required for families who will be using Extended Care services
on an occasional basis as well as for those who will take
advantage of our services daily. Extended Care hours will
be from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm on regular school days.

obligations once their duties conclude. Your prompt arrival
will be greatly appreciated. Pickup after 5:30 will result
in a $1.00 per minute fine and will be billed by the Business
Office. Repeated late pickups will result in parents making
other after-school arrangements.

Extended Care Guidelines
Extended Care Program
Guidelines
1. All students (even those who only stay occasionally)
who participate in the extended care program must have a
hold-harmless statement on file in the extended care office.
Forms are available on the school’s website and from
the Extended Care office.
2. Pre-K-5 must report to the Greer Center immediately after
school to sign in with a counselor. Students in grades 6-8
will report upstairs in Aldrich Library immediately after
school to sign in with a counselor. Failure to do so will
result in disciplinary consequences appropriate for the
age level of the child. Repeated offenses will result in
parents making other after-school arrangements.
3. Lower School students will have access
to the playground and basketball court area only and be
supervised by an Extended Care staff member. Middle School
students will have access to outdoor areas as a group and
under the supervision of an Extended Care staff member.
4. The opportunity to complete assigned homework will be
a part of each day at Extended Care. Lower School students
will work in Pollard Library and Middle School students
in Aldrich Library. Rules for appropriate behavior will
be established at the beginning of school and shared with
families. Below is the schedule lower and middle school
students will be following for the coming year:
Lower School Schedule:
3:25 – 4:00 Check-in, snack time,
homework
4:00 – 5:00 Activity Time
5:00 – 5:15 Pick up, clean up, pack up
5:15 – 5:30 Carpool and late bus
Middle School Schedule:
3:25 – 4:00 Check-in, snack and
social time
4:00 – 5:00 Homework
5:00 – 5:15 Pick up, clean up, pack up
5:15 – 5:30 Carpool and late bus
5. Lower School students will have snack
provided this year. The concession stand will not be an
option for Lower School children. We encourage you to send
a snack with your child if you so choose. They will also
need to bring a water bottle or be prepared to use the water
fountain. Middle School students will have access to the
concession stand near the gym. They will go together, as
a group, following sign-in and not before. A loss of privilege
may result should students go to the concession stand prior
to signing in at Aldrich Library. Visits to any other concession
stand on campus will not be allowed.
6. In order to care for all our students, access to all
buildings across campus will require the presence of an
Extended Care staff member. Students may use the Extended
Care telephone if they need to make a call.
7. All Extended Care pickups should be made at the carpool
circle only. A counselor will be on duty at the carpool
circle to locate children and have them sent there. Parents
or approved designees will be required to sign for their
children each day.
8. Students who are participating in after-school activities
(sports, club meetings, tutoring, etc.) must report to the
lower school playground to sign in if they are not immediately
picked up when their activity ends. If, for any reason,
you feel this applies to your child, we recommend you consider
which of the two payment options will work best for you.
Students not enrolled will be charged on a daily basis until
the maximum fee amount is reached.
9. There will be occasions for our students to be indoors
based on weather conditions or other factors. PK-5 will
be found in the Greer Center and 6-8 in Aldrich Library.
10. The late bus leaves campus promptly at 5:30. Lower school
students will be escorted to the bus circle at 5:15 and
will be supervised by a counselor until they board the bus.
Middle school students will be dismissed from the center
of the middle quad area and observed from that vantage point
to insure safe arrival of all students.
11. In order to have a smooth transition from the school
day to Extended Care, it is important that the children
understand their end-of-day plans. If a change from their
regular routine is required, please contact Casie Burley
(Lower School Administrative Assistant at 753-3180 x 1137)
or Dana Heuvel (Middle School Administrative Assistant at
753-3180 x1122) before 3:00 pm. They will forward the information
to your child’s teacher and the Extended Care faculty/staff.
For changes after 3:30, please call Jannie Day in the Extended
Care office at 753-3180 x1173.
12. We will attempt to offer extended care on early dismissal
days and on some school holidays. Students must be registered
for these days, and we must have a minimum of 12 students
of over services. There is a fee for this service. Please
check the school website for fee information and times.
